Welcome

A letter from President & CEO

Michael K. Powell

As we rapidly move through 2025, NCTA continues to advance our mission with energy and purpose in the face of shifting political landscapes and critical industry challenges. A new Administration and a change in FCC leadership bring both uncertainty and opportunity.

We’re actively engaging with policymakers to ensure that innovation, investment, and consumer choice remain central to communications policy.

At the forefront of our efforts is the battle over spectrum allocation. With the wireless industry pushing hard for more access and policymakers weighing competing interests, the debate is as fierce as it is consequential. Our members deliver the nation’s wired and Wi-Fi infrastructure that millions rely on daily, and they have become disruptors in the mobile marketplace. We are making the case—clearly and forcefully—that spectrum policy must reflect how people connect today and where the country is headed tomorrow.

I’m always proud of the work our industry delivers every day, including:

  • Improving Networks: Broadband providers are constantly expanding and upgrading the networks that power our digital lives, bringing more families online and strengthening the most essential infrastructure of our time.
  • Elevated Entertainment: TV companies continue to raise the bar with compelling storytelling and innovative ways for audiences to enjoy their favorite content.
  • Meaningful Service: Across the board, NCTA member companies are making a real difference in the communities they serve and the neighborhoods where their employees live and work.

This year will also mark a personal milestone as I’ve shared my decision to retire later in 2025. After more than a decade leading this remarkable organization, it has been one of the greatest privileges of my professional life to serve alongside such dedicated colleagues and visionary industry leaders.

Thank you for the trust, the partnership, and the opportunity to help shape the future of communications.
